Ages Brandon Raphael 0-920270-36-0 Book Timber Frame; English The drawings of English medieval
timber roofs in this book are, in a word,
beautiful. Exceptional detail and clarity. Detail
drawings of moldings and carvings. The drawings show the frames in detail
but do not cover the joinery. This is a great reference for roof

Buildings Alcock N. W. 1-872414-72-9 Book Timber Frame; English An excellent book on English timber
frame design with a glossary of terms and illustrated
library of frame designs and joinery. A must have book. The New Carpenter and
Joiner Boughton R. V. Book Timber Frame; English Volumes 1 - 3. Written in 1946.
Excellent article in volume 2 evaluating the roof of
Westminster Hall. William Harvey's article on the
Westminster Hall roof gives an excellent understanding of
the evolution and engineering of hammer beam
trusses. This article alone makes the set worth
having. A good all around carpentry reference.
Although some aspects are out of date many basic principals
still apply.

the field of European wooden architecture and only recently
translated from German. This book is about log structures,
however there is a wealth of detailed drawings of roof
structures, joinery details, window and door frames and much
more. The drawings are exceptional in their
clarity, detail, and number. Excellent reference
book.
